Research Topic:
Accidental Observatories

We all know Stonehenge and Chichen Itza. These solar monuments/instruments of ancient cultures continue to awe us - but their impact is far removed from our daily lives. Yet the cities and landscapes we live in today are also full of solar events (both designed and ‘accidental’) that have the potential to become culturally significant if we were more aware of them. Manhattan-henge is a great example and there are many more like it in every city, waiting to be discovered. I want more people to be aware of these - and I could use your help as I crowdsource the research.

My end goal is to produce a catalog (and potentially a network of physical markers) that documents these phenomena and demonstrates how they function so more of us can experience them.

Do you know a solar alignment I should include?
